Blurry Lines

New Works in Dance

Thu June 21

Blurry Lines compiles eclectic dance pieces that blur the lines between what is “pop”/”club” dance, “contemporary” dance and performance art.  The evening is sure to aesthetically entertain and stimulate new perceptions of dance/performance on stage and in society.

Blurry Lines includes new dance works by Claire Côté, Jake Dibeler, Isa Leal, Alex Licata, Caroline Marcantoni, Sigrid Lauren & Monica Mirabile.

Featured will be the group piece Trans-Actions, recently premiered at the Ufer Studio in Berlin, Germany. Trans-Actions addresses the numerous ways our globalized, hybrid society participates in transactions; that is, giving and receiving information and money both virtually and inter-personally. It questions how these transactions affect us, revealing how we create a hybrid culture from these experiences. The music of SFTSTPS and choreography by Claire Côté in collaboration with the dancers reflects a hybrid form in that it mixes club music/dance with a "contemporary" and pedestrian quality. The choreography is influenced by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and Beyonce Knowles.
