Baltimore Performance Kitchen presents
A workshop production leading to the Arena Stage premiere of
The Grand Parade (of the 20th Century)
Conceived and directed by Stacy Klein
Co-created by the Double Edge ensemble
As part of a developmental residency hosted and presented by Baltimore Performance Kitchen, Double Edge Theatre will be sharing its process and a workshop version of The Grand Parade (of the 20th Century). Before it has its world premiere at Arena Stage in February 2013, audiences get an opportunity to see the first iteration of the work, which is a visual feast with actors and set pieces flying and moving.
Double Edge’s distinct imagining of the American Century is being conceived through the lens of Marc Chagall (1887-1985), and explores how the epic events and iconic characters of the 20th century inform the realities in which we now live. Following the residency in Baltimore, the work will continue to be developed in Chicago, followed by the premiere in Washington, DC at Arena Stage, and then presentations in Russia.
Double Edge Theatre is America's premier laboratory theatre company. Located on a sprawling farm in Ashfield, MA, Double Edge Theatre sometimes take years to create an original piece of theatre. Double Edge Theatre is led by Stacy Klein, a native of Baltimore.
