LOVE, LAND, LEGACY
By VTDance/Vincent E. Thomas
May 10 & 11
VTDance/Vincent E Thomas presents LOVE, LAND, LEGACY – an intimate look at why we love, where we stand, and what we may leave behind. These physical stories are told through the incredible ensemble of dancers (VTDance II) and longtime collaborator and poet Michelle A. Nelson (aka Love the Poet). The evening is woven together by the music of Dave Ballou and excerpts of his newest work The Detritus Suite for Jazz Orchestra.
Vincent was awarded the 2024 Robert M. Trotter Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Oregon. He is the Founder/Artistic Director of VTDance, Associate Choreographer for INTELLIGENCE Opera (with Jawole Zollar), Co-Choreographer for Scat! The Complex Lives of Al and Dot…Dot and Al Zollar (with Jawole Zollar), and Professor of Dance at Towson University (MD). His multi-dimensional company VTDance builds on the use of contemporary dance, improvisation, text/ movement, a variety of sound sources, and collaborations with other artists, including dancers, musicians, poets, visual artists, and others [to be discovered]. These ideas coupled with witty, poignant, athletic and gestural movement are the rich palette for VTDance. www.vtdance.org
